Controls Engineer

Job Description

 

The primary job function of the Controls Engineer will be to work in all aspects of automotive controls engineering. This will include hardware and software engineering, cabling, wiring and all other electrical standards. An initial training phase of working with a Senior Designer for up to two years will occur in order to learn how to develop machine and equipment solutions.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Understand and perform all controls engineering tasks, both hardware & software related
  • Support Senior Designers and Project Engineers
  • Generate project PLC and HMI solutions

Functional Safety Engineer

Job Description

 

The Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for leading safety related activities to influence the design, development and manufacture of innovative metal cutting and assembly equipment. The position requires an experienced professional with a functional safety background, preferably at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier. The selected applicant will be required to attend extended training with the Functional Safety team at the company headquarters in Germany.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Apply and monitor the functional safety concepts for relevant systems and software according to ISO and/or IEC standards
  • Work closely with internal design teams and suppliers to define functional safety interfaces between project partners
  • Conduct safety reviews and risk assessments during design, development, and manufacturing phases
  • Create safety matrix’s to call out operations and functions by machine
  • Utilize SISTEMA software utility to calculate PL
  • Support functional safety validation testing
  • Monitor project-specific developments of safety concepts at system, hardware, and software level using applicable standards

 

Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience as a Functional/Product Safety Engineer

Universal Application Technician

Job Description

 

The position is responsible for assisting the sales department with time studies and machining new customer parts to aid in new machine sales. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude and in depth knowledge of part prints and advanced skills in metal cutting principles. This position requires communicating directly with customers and up to 25% travel annually for training the customer to run their new machine.

Fluid Technician

Job Description

 

The primary responsibility of the Fluid Power Technician will be the building and implementation of fluid controls systems into custom Grob machines and robotic assembly equipment. This position will need to interpret information delivered by Fluid Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering to successfully assemble the fluids systems which include hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication and metal cutting fluid controls systems.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Construct fluid related components such as directional valves, check valves, ball valves, pressure regulators, pressure switches, filters, etc.
  • Bend and install custom piping
  • Measure, cut and install custom hoses
  • Install all components of fluid controls systems
  • Perform fluid systems start up and run offs to ensure proper construction

This position is responsible for the mechanical build and start-up of machine tool equipment. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, an in-depth knowledge of metric prints, and an understanding of metal cutting principles. This position requires travel during machine installations (mostly domestic, some international) where you will interface with customers directly.

  • Assemble and start-up new CNC machines to GROB specifications

  • Utilize precision measuring instruments (such as calipers, levels, indicators, micrometers, etc.)

This position is responsible for the early stage assembly of our proprietary machine tool equipment. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude and an in-depth knowledge of metric prints. This position may require short-term travel during machine installations (mostly domestic, some international) where you will interface with customers directly.

  • Review part prints and collect materials per the bill of materials

The After Sales Representative is responsible for maintaining relationships with existing GROB customers by marketing, promoting and profitably selling products and services after their initial equipment purchase. The individual should be driven to meet the customer’s current needs and anticipate future needs. The After Sales Representative will travel up to 75% nationwide to current customers and act as a liaison between the GROB service department and customer.

Technical Instructor

Job Description

 

The Technical Instructor is responsible for training GROB customers how to operate and set up computer numerical control (CNC) machining centers through conventional lectures and hands-on demonstrations. The Instructor will learn our full product line including robotics, automation, ancillary assembly equipment, and emerging E-mobility technologies through hands-on training on our production floor. The knowledge gained during this training period will then be translated into a detailed curriculum that can be used to train our customers on purchased equipment. The ideal candidate must be reliable, conscientious, and detail-oriented. They must be able to confidently and competently speak in front of small groups of people and maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times. Finally, the Instructor must be willing to travel up to 65% for customer trainings in a classroom setting as well as in a production environment.
